"A discussion and photo of this model can be found on p. 40 of Vol. 1. of Taylor, Roger C. L. Francis Herreshoff. Yacht Designer. Vol. 1, 1890-1930. Mystic, 2015, p. 39-40. Taylor suggests the model keel to be broken off." (Source: van der Linde, Claas. June 21, 2021.)

"At the time this model was made NGH and his sons designed several Beverly YC 21-footers and Sonder boats. The general dimensions of this design might suggest that it was also intended for one of these classes. But this appears not to be the case, as the shape is different and the Beverly YC raceabouts were restricted to shorter waterline lengths of 21ft while the Sonderboats had larger sail areas of 550sqft. But note that just four months later, in October 1907 designed the 22ft LWL knockabout #678s Louise which may have been a similar boat to what LFH intended when he carved this model. In this context it is interesting to note that it had been L. Francis who trial-sailed Louise, not NGH." (Source: van der Linde, Claas. June 22, 2021.)
